Meet Amanda Ferguson
Dr. Ferguson is a clinical psychologist whose practice focuses on the treatment of emotion-related disorders using mindfulness-based interventions, emotion-focused therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, and dialectical behavior therapy. She completed her Ph.D. in Psychological Clinical Science at the University of Toronto, where she studied how emotions affect decision making and motivation. Her clinical psychology residency at the Royal Mental Health Care Center in Ottawa included training in the treatment and assessment of concurrent disorders and trauma-related disorders in inpatient, outpatient, and forensic settings.
Dr. Ferguson is currently a Senior Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. In this role, she studies whether and how technology use impacts trajectories of mental health and well being, particularly in young people.
Dr. Ferguson is a published peer-reviewed author and has lectured in the Department of Psychology at the University of Toronto Scarborough. She prioritizes a flexible evidence-based approach to psychological intervention, seeing clients with depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, emotion dysregulation, substance use, interpersonal difficulties, and family conflicts.
