Jessica Vlasak, RN
Clinical Manager & Intake Coordinator
Jessica Vlasak is a Registered Nurse, Clinical Manager, and Intake Coordinator at eFIT. For many members, Jessica is the first person they meet at eFIT and one of the people they remain connected to throughout their time in the Evolve Therapy Program.
Her role begins with listening. Jessica meets with every prospective member for an initial complimentary consultation to understand what has brought them to eFIT, the difficulties they are currently experiencing, what they may have already tried, and what they hope might be different as they take their next step in their healing journey. She understands that reaching out for help can itself feel vulnerable, particularly for people who have spent years navigating mental health concerns or have had previous experiences with care that did not fully meet their needs. Her approach is warm, practical, and unhurried, helping people understand the Evolve Therapy Program while also determining whether eFIT is an appropriate fit for what they are looking for.
Once a member decides to begin, Jessica helps gently guide them into the full program. Every member completes a 60-minute health assessment with Jessica at the beginning of their care. Drawing on her nursing background, she develops a broader picture of the person's current and past difficulties, relevant health history, previous experiences with treatment, and individual needs and goals. This assessment becomes one of the starting points for tailoring the Evolve Therapy Program to the person rather than expecting the person to fit into a standardized pathway.
Jessica brings extensive nursing experience to this role. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McMaster University and began her career in pediatric oncology before moving more deeply into mental health care. She has worked within pediatric inpatient Mental Health and Eating Disorder programs at McMaster University Hospital, gaining experience with complex mental health and eating disorder presentations and their treatment. Her background also includes primary care within a family physician's office, with a focus on women's health, as well as teaching future healthcare professionals through Personal Support Worker and Registered Practical Nursing programs at Anishinabek Educational Institute.
Her experience in eating disorder care has become particularly relevant within the Evolve Therapy Program. Jessica co-facilitates Eat!, the nutrition component of the Evolve Therapy Program, alongside eFIT's psychologists and registered dietitians. She brings a nursing and mental health perspective to conversations about nourishment, physical health, eating patterns, and the often complicated relationships people can develop with food and their bodies. Her presence helps reinforce that nutrition within eFIT is not treated as an isolated lifestyle issue, but as one part of a person's broader physical and psychological well-being.
As Clinical Manager of the integrated Evolve Therapy Team, Jessica also helps connect the different parts of a member's care. A comprehensive program can involve multiple clinicians, appointments, classes, and treatment goals. Jessica helps members navigate that complexity, assisting with each step of onboarding and remaining available throughout their time at eFIT for questions, concerns, or any obstacles that arise along the way.
That continuity is an important part of her role. Members do not simply complete an intake and disappear into a system. Jessica remains a consistent point of connection throughout their involvement in the Evolve Therapy Program, helping identify when something needs attention, supporting communication and coordination, and working to ensure that no member quietly falls through the cracks.
In many ways, Jessica helps make integrated care actually feel integrated. She knows the person who first walked through the door, understands the broader context that brought them to eFIT, and remains connected as their care unfolds. Her role helps ensure that members experience the Evolve Therapy Program not as a collection of separate services, but as a coordinated system of care built around the individual.
