For much of my career, I watched people do everything they were supposed to do.
They came to therapy every week. They learned coping skills. They challenged their thoughts. They worked incredibly hard.
And yet many still felt like they were surviving rather than truly living.
It was clear to me that this singular approach wasn't enough.
As a clinical and health psychologist, researcher, and educator, I have always believed mental health is far more complex than what can be addressed in a fifty-minute therapy session. We are shaped not only by our thoughts and emotions, but by our nervous system, our physical health, our relationships, our communities, and the environments we live in.
The more I worked with people, the clearer it became that these pieces could not be separated.
Therapy matters. But so does movement. So does learning how to nourish yourself. So does reconnecting with your body. So does belonging to a community.
And perhaps most importantly, so does learning that healing isn't simply about reducing suffering. It's about becoming more fully yourself.
That belief became eFIT.
I wanted to build a place where emotional wellbeing wasn't treated as something you worked on for an hour each week, but as a lifelong practice. A place where the whole person is supported and nurtured, not in isolation.
I wanted to create a community where people could heal and grow together — where movement, nutrition, therapy, and connection all play a role. I wanted to offer a space that feels approachable, evidence-informed, and deeply human.
That is what emotional fitness means to me.
It isn't about meeting standards. It isn't constant happiness. It isn't the absence of difficulty or stress.
It's developing the emotional capacity to meet life with greater steadiness, awareness, resilience, compassion, and authenticity.
Whether you're joining us for therapy, movement, nutrition, community, or simply exploring what emotional fitness means, I'm grateful you're here.
I hope eFIT becomes a place where you feel understood, challenged, supported, and ultimately, more connected to yourself than you thought was possible.
You are welcome here.
